The Tribal Technical Assistance Program is part of a nationwide effort sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration and the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
The intention of TTAP is to relate the latest technology and information on tribal roads and bridges, tourism and recreation, and related economic development to tribal transportation and planning personnel.
TTAP provides technology transfer through training workshops, a quarterly newsletter, and the operation of free publication and videotape training libraries.

2009 National Tribal Transportation Conference (NTTC):

NTTC News:

1. Recently confirmed FHWA Administrator Victor Mendez has officially committed to attend the National Tribal Transportation Conference! Mr. Mendez is the former Director of the Arizona Department of Transportation and actively participated in the Arizona Tribal Safety Summit.

2. Please plan to stay through Thursday. The NTTC will be the host of the first ever National Tribal Transportation Safety Summit that will take place Thursday, November 19. This event will feature a dialogue between the key stakeholders to address the number one killer of Native American people, motor vehicle crashes. Those stakeholders include tribes, Federal Highway Administration, Bureau of Indian Affairs, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, and the Tribal Technical Assistance Program. We will hear reports from the five statewide tribal transportation safety summits which revealed the tremendous opportunities that can be realized through improved collaboration and coordination. This event is the beginning of government to government dialogue designed to lead to a national strategic plan to address tribal transportation safety training, capacity building, and sustainability.

3. As a way to relax after three days of intense presentations and activity, the NTTC will host our first ever bowling tournament! Thursday evening we will form up teams and have a lot of fun.
